Founded in 2020 by Dr. Vivi Alatas, Asakreativita was born from decades of experience at the intersection of rigorous economic research and practical policy impact. Dr. Alatas brought with her a distinguished track record as former Lead Economist at the World Bank’s Poverty Program in Indonesia, where she led teams that produced flagship reports presented to presidents, ministers, and provincial governors.
Her research has shaped how governments identify and support vulnerable populations, with groundbreaking work published in the American Economic Review and through the National Bureau of Economic Research. From pioneering community-based targeting mechanisms to analyzing network effects in poverty reduction, her contributions have influenced social protection policies across Indonesia and beyond.
With a Princeton PhD in Economics and extensive collaboration with leading institutions including MIT, Harvard, and J-PAL, Asakreativita combines world-class analytical expertise with deep understanding of Indonesia’s development challenges. Dr. Vivi Alatas is a distinguished economist with over 20 years of leadership experience at the World Bank, where she served as Lead/Senior Economist. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University, where she studied on a full scholarship.
As a globally recognized expert in poverty reduction and economic policy, Dr. Alatas led groundbreaking research on income inequality, labor market informality, and evidence-based interventions. Her work shaped policy decisions across developing nations and influenced international development strategies.
Dr. Alatas headed a team of economists at the World Bank and is a sought-after speaker on the national and international circuit. Her research has generated significant impact, with 22 publications garnering over 1,372 citations and 4,814 reads.
